The Director Training is responsible and accountable for all facets of pilot ground training, flight training, and the management of AQP. The Director Training ensures compliance with all applicable Company policies, FAA directives, and regulations. - Reports to: Vice President Flight Operations - Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Responsible for the Training Department SMS, Safety Risk Management, Safety Assurance, and Safety Promotion/Communication. Maintains SMS competencies/training and attends safety meetings. References Flight Operations Safety Management System (SMS) Manual SP 3000 and Safety Management System (SMS) Manual SP 5000 and consults the Flight Operations Safety Department, as needed. - Responsible for maintaining standards of safety by establishing all facets of ground and flight training procedures and the management of the Advanced Qualification Program (AQP). The Director Training ensures compliance with all applicable Flight, Company, and FAA directives and regulations. - Provide all training facilities with current material, publications, or revisions in an appropriate format including, but not limited to: • All flight deck aids and materials • Aircraft checklists • Airplane flight manual • Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Configuration Deviation List (CDL), and Nonessential Equipment and Furnishings (NEF) • Pilot Reference Manual • Speed reference cards • Weight and balance - Responsible for reporting potential Company violations using the VDRP. - Responsible for issuance of training bulletins. - Exercise administrative and supervisory control over all pilots during training for any particular aircraft type. - Schedule all ground, flight, line, and unique training including transportation and accommodations logistics. - Responsible for content and revisions of ground and flight training programs and manuals to reflect operational changes and/or new training initiatives. - Organization & Chain of Command - Ensure standardization and proficiency of ground/flight instructors. Ensure currency and utilization of flight instructors and Aircrew Program Designees (Designated Examiners). - Liaison with FAA POI or his designee with respect to notification of training and scheduling FAA-observed ATP or type rating checkrides. - Responsible for interviewing and hiring of Training Department personnel. - Participate in duties as assigned in the Emergency Response Manual SP 4800. - Responsible for performing quality control audits of all training and material. - Based on projected training requirements, establish monthly working schedules for instructors. - Responsible for the training of pilots on the contents of the FOM. E. Delegation of Authority: - In the absence of the Director Training, the Manager CRJ Flight Training or the Manager E175 Flight Training performs the duties of the Director Training as the designated proxy. - The Director Training informs the Manager CRJ Flight Training or the Manager E175 Flight Training of their absence via email or telephone. - The Director Training changes their voicemail message to include a notification to callers identifying either the Manager CRJ or E175 Flight Training as the proxy who will be performing their duties during their absence. - The Director Training activates their email out-of-office profile with a notification informing email senders identifying the Manager CRJ or E175 Flight Training who will be performing their duties during their absence. - In the absence of the Manager CRJ Fleet Training or Manager E175 Fleet Training, the day-to-day operational duties of the Director Training are delegated to an authorized proxy designated by the Vice President Flight Operations. - In the absence of the Director Training, risk acceptance authority of the Director Training is assumed by the Vice President Flight Operations.
